Business Overview:

The Operations Tax team manages all aspects of FCC’s duties relevant to tax management and reporting. The team is responsible for tax slip production & distribution to clients. Additionally, the roles within the team perform withholding tax reconciliation and remittance. They also liaise with tax authorities for enquiries or tax audits. The team collaborates closely with FCC’s service teams to resolve complex tax enquiries. The team ensures that Fidelity's brand and reputation are protected by adhering to Fidelity's compliance and risk framework.

 

What You Will Do:

The Operations Tax team is responsible for several functions. The Operations Tax Specialist is a generalist and performs tasks in one area, or across multiple areas as needed. There may also be projects of varying length that the individual would assist with. The individual will also get involved with documentation review/update, and other tasks as assigned.

 

1. Tax Reporting - Canadian & U.S.

  • Manage, coordinate, and ensure accurate completion of all Canadian and U.S. tax reporting.
  • Run all client critical year-end processes for accuracy.
  • Canadian tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: T5/R3, T3/R16, T5013/R15, T5008/R18, NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF
  • US tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: 1099INT, DIV and B, 1042S, form 1042 and 945,
  • Contribution Receipts
  • Estate Receipts

 

2. FATCA/CRS/QI reporting

  • Review documentation provided by clients to ensure FATCA/CRS/QI compliance
  • Handle FATCA/CRS reporting for all FCC’s clients
  • Manage all QI obligations for FCC as a withholding QI

 

3. Compliance and Regulatory Environment

  • Maintenance of satisfactory Audit/Regulatory/Risk Ratings and Reviews
  • Ensure all reporting is completed on or before regulatory deadlines
  • Stay current with regulatory environment governing tax responsibilities
  • Accountable for identifying issues and risks (financial & regulatory)
  • Ensure all tax accounts are reconciled

 

4. Customer Service

  • Deliver stellar quality customer service interactions to our internal and external customers to exceed their expectations and create an effortless positive experience.

 

The Expertise You Bring:

  • 2 years’ experience in the financial industry, in an operations or analyst role
  • 2 years’ experience in tax processing and/or reporting an asset
  • Work within the brokerage industry or a clearing firm an asset.
  • Post Secondary Education, or equivalent experience
  • Tax related courses or designations (e.g., CPA) an asset.
  • Industry courses such as CSC and IFIC offered by the CSI an asset.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian and/or US tax reporting / filing processes
  • Solid understanding of dividends, income processing, reorg, registered plans
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills; written and oral
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Accurate and detailed oriented
  • Knowledge of Broadridge's Dataphile platform an asset
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Ability to handle competing priorities effectively.
