About The Organization

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex, located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility.

The milling facility is a conventional free milling gold circuit consisting of crushing, SAG milling, leaching, CIL and CIP, stripping and refining. The mill currently processes up to 232 tonnes per hour from two separate mines and disposes of its tailings via conventional end of pipe discharge.

About The Opportunity

We are looking to hire an Assayer to join our Bell Creek Mill in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is 2-2-3 rotation, 12-hour shifts.

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.

In this role, you will maintain records of the receipt and analysis of samples, standards, and reference materials. You will demonstrate the core values of Safety Health and the Environment and Code of Conduct of Lake Shore Gold.

Reporting to the Chief Assayer and Lead Assayer, the Assayer will have the following responsibilities:
 

  • Maintain records of the receipt and analysis of the samples, standards, and reference materials. Organize workspace to process samples from mine following a chain of custody procedure
  • Crush and pulverize ore samples to the consistency required following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Weigh and mix samples following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Load and unload furnace following Standard Operating Procedure
  • Fuse and cupel samples following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform routine inspections on machines and equipment to determine if any maintenance is required
  • Clean and organize work area and machines to maintain a clean working environment
  • Sample prep must be able to prioritize work and follow SOP’s. To maintain quality control, maintain equipment such as Crushers, Pulverizer
  • Work in a safe productive manner

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
 

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in an assay lab
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Thorough knowledge of atomic absorption and fire assaying methods
  • Capable of performing manual labour
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with sample preparation
  • Practice good housekeeping
  • Be committed to safety
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada
