What you’ll be doing

CIBC’s Wood Gundy team is the full-service brokerage division of CIBC serving our high net worth clientele. We are looking for energetic, sales savvy and client service oriented individuals to join our team. As a Business Development specialist, you will work closely with a successful team of Investment Advisor in our Wood Gundy brokerage within a defined territory to increase market share for CIBC Wood Gundy with existing clients while incrementally developing new business relationships by prospecting.

You’ll play a key part in growing  and servicing high net worth client, with a focus on entrepreneurs and incorporated individuals. Your primary sales activity will be over the telephone and, when required, meet the client face to face as determined by events and activities within the region. You’ll provide ongoing support to a team that goes above and beyond for their clients. This position is a great opportunity to learn the investment business in a professional, dynamic work environment with one of Canada's leading Brokerage as well as expend your own professional network.

Note that this role does not require to manage a portfolio of clients, nor offer financial advise. This role is focused on prospecting new clients for the CIBC Wood Gundy team.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Business Development: Prospect for new business for the Investment Advisors in your territory over the telephone through contacts and regular follow-ups. Deeply understand your local market and potential client base to create a sales plan that will convert leads into new CIBC clients.

  • Relationship Building: Strengthen existing business relationships to consistently meet sales targets. Use your strong relationship building and networking skills to build connections, generate opportunities, and deliver bottom line results.

  • Client Engagement: Focus on each client experience and connect on a personal level to make every interaction meaningful. Deliver trusted advice and provide support to enhance existing relationships. Cultivate your network to establish new client relationships.

  • You can demonstrate experience in. You have a proven track record of success in previous sales roles. Experience in telephone sales within the mutual fund/wealth management industry (an asset).  You are knowledgeable and have an interest of current trends in the broker/dealer industry.

  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships, and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity.

  • You have a degree in. You have a degree in a related field.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to contribute to high-performance teams and a demonstrated commitment to acting with integrity.

  • You're fluent in French and English to serve our clients in the community
