Insurance Transformation Director
A career within IFRS 17 Consulting, will provide you with the opportunity to provide a range of advisory services and business advice to a variety of clients from small, fast growing clients to large entities. Our clients are often well known brands and many have broad international reach. We focus on using the latest technology to reduce the level of manual testing ensuring you’ll focus on the most valuable areas of client service and on enhancing corporate governance and the reliability of our clients’ information. Our cross disciplinary practice that includes accountants, actuaries and data specialists help insurers address new financial reporting requirements by assessing the financial and business impacts of regulations, building implementation plans, and implementing relevant requirements, particularly across areas of financial reporting change. PwC offers consulting services to insurance companies, reinsurance companies and government agencies, as well as audit support for various insurance entities. You will work directly with our experienced accountants and actuaries on a wide range of projects to gain invaluable working experience in the insurance industry and exposure to a multitude of IFRS 17 concepts. Purpose-led work you’ll be part of:
As an Insurance Transformation Director, you will be a key leader within the PwC Canada Actuarial Services team, with a focus on the broader finance transformation strategy in addition to IFRS 17 engagements. The position requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including actuaries, partners and client executives. This role also includes coaching, training, direct supervision, resource planning, and business/product development components. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Insurance Consulting (45%)
Manage various IFRS17 consulting and managed service engagements
Prepare and review reports and presentations
Guide client communication to ensure all needs will be met timely, and to present results
Provide leadership on various Finance Transformation projects, including the generation of innovative ideas to solve data problems for clients
Understanding client business issues and aligning them to service capabilities
Business & Product Development (40%)
Seek out and develop new business opportunities by building and leveraging a strong network within PwC of consultants, risk experts, cloud engineers, and others, while also staying abreast of emerging trends
Actively participate in professional and industry committees and present at conferences
Prepare proposals for potential clients and statements of work for ongoing clients
Monitor budgets, WIPs and billing, while focusing on both the short-term profitability as well as long-term growth.
Respond to ad-hoc requests from clients and other professionals in the firm
Coaching & Resource Planning (15%)
Train and mentor team members
Develop and update processes used by associates and managers as necessary
Resolve project issues and challenges brought up by team members
Hiring and resource management
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve
Demonstrated progressive experience in insurance industry or insurance audit practice
Advanced knowledge of insurance products is a must. Accounting and actuarial knowledge is an asset
Recent experience with IFRS17 accounting standards and implementations
Experience with cloud application and solutions such as MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform or AWS Cloud is a plus
Work to automate tasks, streamline processes, and improve reliability, uptime, efficiency, consistency and security throughout the infrastructure and platform tooling.
Knowledge of leading practices and current thinking for both life and P&C
Ability to develop and motivate a highly engaged and effective team
Be a thought leader internally and externally in their area of expertise
Excellent project management skills and ability to manage relationships at all levels within PwC and within the client’s organization
Ability to coach senior managers / managers and provide assessments and guidance
Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills that allow you to thrive in a team environment
Fluent in French would be an asset
