The SWAT (Specialists with Actuarial Talent) team within Retirement and Benefits Solutions is a national actuarial team of experts focusing on technical and delivery tasks. As an Actuarial Consultant on the SWAT team, you have a passion for numbers, an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing calculations. Being a key member of the SWAT team, you help to ensure delivery of high-quality work that support our client facing consultants in meeting specific client needs. You build strong relationships with internal client teams, tackling new challenges everyday with the guidance and expertise of seasoned colleagues who care.This is an opportunity to develop under a career path that is technically focused as opposed to a traditional client-facing actuarial role. The SWAT team works remotely within Canada.
What does an Actuarial Consultant DO?
Support client-facing consultants with valuation and other technical work on various Defined Benefit and Target Benefit pension plans across Canada
Oversees the valuation process and effectively contributes to complex client projects
Coaches, trains and mentors junior team members
Gains insight and builds knowledge of our organization, its services, people and purpose in order to help our clients be successful.
Contribute to internal development projects

What Education, Certification(s), or Subject Matter Expertise aligns well with the Actuarial Consultant role?
Post-secondary degree in actuarial science, mathematics or business
6+ years of relevant industry experience in pension actuarial or related field
ACIA (or equivalent) actuarial designation and working towards becoming a fully qualified actuary. Completion of the FCIA (or equivalent) designation would be an asset
Understanding of actuarial principles and applicable legislation
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and exposure to valuation models used for funding and accounting valuations
Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
