Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Global Procurement, the Senior Purchasing Manager is instrumental in helping align the strategic vision for the Global Procurement organization to the company strategy.
As a Senior Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for supporting the development of the strategic plan for one or more core Procurement function and for translating that plan into executable goals. You will oversee the strategic global procurement of goods and services to meet STEMCELL’s business requirements while balancing costs and business risk. You will also contribute to the continual improvement of STEMCELL’s global Procurement framework while ensuring all global entities are provided with the necessary training, systems, processes, and policies required for their Procurement organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
Represent Procurement in cross-functional meetings and projects as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for Procurement activities; ensure cross-functional stakeholder engagement in Procurement activities by facilitating a culture of collaboration and responsiveness
Manages a team of people leaders and individual contributors with professional/technical skills; provides coaching, mentorship, and support with development opportunities to team members
Responsible for establishing and leading the achievement of annual goals with a 1-2 year strategic time horizon for the team; provides directional guidance to their team to exercise independence in accomplishing goals and meeting KPIs
Contributes to the development of goals for the department and critical input to planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.) to align with long-term corporate vision
Leads problem-solving through the team and ensures execution of the solutions; solutions may require collaboration with other groups and in-depth analysis that requires conceptual thinking
Evaluates and approves significant improvements to methods and processes based on new / changes to policies
Identifies and establishes working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; May negotiate internally and externally on matters of importance; persuades others to adopt concepts, practices, and approaches
Interacts with industry professionals, attends conferences and seminars to represent STEMCELL
Knowledge and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master's with 10+ years of experience or PHD with 7+ years of experience
Requires proficient experience and knowledge in leading teams, processes, and projects
Has advanced-level knowledge and skills within procurement
People leadership: learning to mentor and coach people leaders effectively
Self-leadership: beginning to seek and receive feedback from peers, reports, and management, demonstrates self-awareness, and self-accountability
Clear communication: communicates effectively by providing updates to teams, reporting up to management, effectively delivering presentations, drafting business documents
SME in several aspects of the procurement cycle, including, sales, operations, contract negotiations, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, receiving, or requester
Demonstrates the ability to think strategically
