We are looking for Supervisors of Living Standards at our Delta Hotel program. The schedule would be Mondays-Fridays, with one individual working from 9am – 5pm and the other would be working 12pm - 8pm.

Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.
Reporting to the Site Manager(s) of the Homes First Hotels, this position involves training front-line staff in best practices as well as working one-on-one with residents in the implementation of processes designed to address issues around hoarding, pests, fire hazards, and property damage. Solution-focused and with a knowledge and background in the intersection of addictions, mental health and lived-trauma, the successful candidate will design, train and execute strategies to assist shelter hotel residents in maintaining a healthy and safe living space. Liaising with existing services overseen by the Hotel Property Managers as well as coordinating new supports individually and through partnerships and service design is also a key function of this role
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of best practices for pest control and hoarding interventions and remediation
- Ability to identify and prevent potential safety issues and/or property damage
- Demonstrated experience in leading and designing training
- Ability to develop strategies to assist shelter hotel residents in maintaining a healthy and safe living space; as well as train others and execute these strategies
- Knowledge of group processes and dynamics
- Demonstrated interpersonal and team work skills; ability to maintain co-operative working relationships with Shelter co-workers and interact positively with the resident population who are experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and may use drugs on site
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve individually and as part of a team/group
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, and administration skills
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in languages other than English an asset
- Maintain bed bug/pest control tools and equipment in good condition
- Must be able to lift 25 kilograms
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or equivalent
- several years’ experience working with people who are homeless, under-housed or hard to house
- knowledge of shelter population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness
- excellent interpersonal skills
- knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines
- knowledge of resources and services available in the community
- excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organization skills
- certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset
