Why this role is important?
The Director, Projects and Insights will be responsible for strategic pharmacy systems reporting into the VP, Pharmacy Systems. The role will include building strong relationships with all stakeholders, to deliver best in class pharmacy systems using an Agile approach and supporting our pharmacy teams with patient centric systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop vision and strategy of pharmacy and digital patient facing systems supporting the business – pharmacy services and medication dispense – with a patient centric approach
A strong and integrated partnership with business stakeholders and incorporate patient safety mindset in all workstreams
The delivery of capabilities to agreed timelines, scope, budget
Define the roadmap and delivery strategy for the applications, including an Agile delivery strategy of application development.
Working across a cross functional organization: Operations, Security, Architecture, Communications and other teams, to provide an integrated and coordinated set of capabilities
Actively manage external service providers to ensure they are delivery high quality code and service at the best possible cost.
Implement strong governance. Focus on both the short-and long-term to ensure the company’s financial success.
Play a critical role in specific projects e.g. business enablement, organizational effectiveness and improvements by providing business insights and environmental updates
Co-ordinate Projects, Presentations and Reports
Support business unit leaders on specific projects where there is cross over or synergy opportunities across BU’s
Manage complex projects on behalf of VP and assist with co-ordination with the enterprise as needed
Support the development of Pharmacy Systems strategic and operating plans as needed with guidance and input from the businesses
Ensure flawless implementation of planned activities and programs
Identify ways to increase operational effectiveness of working teams
Lead execution of key team meetings and offsites, capturing action items and ensuring prompt follow-up
Provide key inputs to internal and external VP Pharmacy Systems communications
Preparation of senior level reports and presentations
Co-ordinate major meetings and conferences in partnership with other team members
Proactively identify and implement best practices
Partner with other team leaders to ensure alignment
Critical Competencies/Leadership Criteria

Develop strategic technology delivery plan for the application, including end state, anticipating intersections and dependencies, data quality and platform flexibility.
Stay abreast of relevant innovation and trends in pharmacy, and build relationships with other non-competitive pharmacy retailers to understand and leverage the capabilities they are deploying.
Drive the overall transformation agenda toward further integration across the enterprise.
Continuously drive cost efficiencies and operational efficiencies through automation and digitization.
Partnership
Build a strong and trusting relationship with all stakeholders.
Work with leadership teams to define and adhere to a clear engagement model and decision framework to enable delivery success.
Review and approve key issues and decisions for applicable solution domains.
Work with the technology leadership team to enhance and mature delivery processes to reduce cost of delivery and increase speed to market.
Leadership
Provide leadership to ensure a high performing delivery team with appropriate skills and capacity required to enable technology strategy.
Be a coach, mentor, and role model for members of the management team to help grow our talent.
Demonstrate knowledge and credibility through delivery excellence.
Experience/Qualifications
Between 7-12 years leadership experience, ideally in an engineering role with knowledge of pharmacy
University degree and/or a professional designation with a computer science or engineering background.
Highly desired is a candidate who has experience in a complex matrix environment whereby his/her success was achieved through a combination of an internal team and outsourced providers.
Quantitatively driven, will understand the value of information, and will use this to drive strategy and tactics. He/she will be a decisive individual with a passion for results and will have the ability to influence and guide the actions of others.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with a record of accomplishment of professionalism, innovation, integrity and high energy.
Relationship management capabilities that foster strong relationships in IT and with business partners.
Honest and ethical with unquestionable integrity.
Drive change, be confident, resilient and persistent.
