About the Opportunity
PNGFP is currently looking for a Chief Electrical Engineer to join our team in Bulolo, PNG.
This is an incredibly unique opportunity to live and work in our self-sustaining township, and manage the strategic planning, operational performance, and product delivery of our electrical engineering division!
Your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Managing the hydropower generation operations, reticulation, and maintenance of power stations, HV/MV/LV line, substations, as well as regulatory compliance requirements
Overseeing the Technical Services section with management of the electrical operations and maintenance requirements of PNGFP Plymill and Sawmill plants
Supervising the various electrical services and requirements for the Bulolo Township
Managing the engineering division of over 200 electrical and mechanical trades staff
Providing the consistent delivery and strategic improvement of power supply, electrical/mechanical operations, and engineering maintenance performance
Directing the engineering team to ensure high-quality domestic installation, electrical workshop maintenance, machine and fabrication shop repairs, industrial facility repairs, and maintenance
Assisting key leadership stakeholders in executing projects, including regulatory compliance, budget, and resourcing allocations
Providing leadership across all areas of our engineering division, including training, mentorship, delegation, safety enforcement, and performance reviews
About You
To qualify, you must have an Electrical Engineering degree (Mechanical Engineering combined with strong relevant experience may be considered). We also require at least 5 years of senior level experience as a Chief/Lead Engineer, preferably in a similar industry (e.g., hydroelectric power, industrial power supply generation/distribution, etc.).
In addition, you will also need the following:
Up-to-date knowledge of electrical engineering best practices
Proven leadership experience
Ability to communicate in English (both verbal and written)
Project and operational management
Budgeting and resource allocation
Problem-solving and excellent analytical skills
Valid passport and unrestricted ability to work and travel as an expat for a minimum of 2-3 years
Prior experience working as an expatriate will be considered a valuable asset, but not required
As a strategic thinker, you have proven success in prior roles(s) by driving efficiency across your area of responsibility. You are a confident and inspiring leader with a passion to help your team and your community.
