Manager, IT Operations - Full Time, Permanent
We are currently seeking a Manager, IT Operations
Full-time, Permanent
VHA provides a “hybrid” approach for work. This means that the successful candidate will be able to work from home 3-4 days a week, with at least 1-2 days a week in the office.
We are looking for a Manager, IT Operations, to oversee VHAs IT Infrastructure, which includes Security, Networking, Hardware (inc. Cellular) and IT Support as we look to implement our 3-year Digital Transformation Roadmap which will see our IT department grow and new applications implemented to improve the support we provide.
The Manager, IT Operations is responsible for ensuring that our IT Systems are secure, consistent and reliable by monitoring network infrastructure, working closely with 3rd party vendors and ensuring we are providing excellent customer service to our staff, clients and families.
If you’re technical with great communication skills and have the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects whilst leading a dedicated IT team, we’d like to meet you.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and optimize VHA’s networks and servers
Be responsible for hardware (servers, laptops, tablets and cellphones) maintenance and tracking
Oversee data backups and work closely with our outsourced system security operations vendor (e.g. user authorization, firewalls)
Set priorities and manage installations, patches, upgrades and configurations of hardware and software
Assess system performance and recommend improvements
Manage outside vendors and contractors to ensure performance expectations are met and VHA team satisfaction is achieved.
Ability to motivate, effectively delegate and coach team to create a positive and dynamic working atmosphere.
Work closely with the Digital Transformation team to ensure new Enterprise Applications are transitioned for support in a timely manner after project completion.
Monitor performance of direct reports and provide coaching and counseling as required.
Resolve issues escalated by colleagues
Ensure data is handled, transferred or processed according to PHIPA guidelines and data security requirements.
Oversee support and guidance to stakeholders via our IT help desk
Forecast and control costs and budgets regarding IT operations
Manage relationships and contracts with vendors
Help develop IT policies and practices
Key Skills, Experience and Behaviors required for this position:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other IT related area
An ITIL certification with experience working in healthcare.
A Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a leadership capacity within an IT team (preferably as an IT Operations manager)
Experience with system installation, configuration, analysis and support.
Thorough knowledge of physical networking (including Wi-Fi, MPLS, etc.), virtualization and cloud computing
Familiar with key systems used at VHA, such as Hybrid Active Directory, Hybrid Exchange, SQL Servers, Windows Servers, Azure Virtual Desktop, JIRA/ServiceNow.
Experience with creating and maintaining integration between systems using standards such as HL7 V2 and FHIR.
Demonstrable leadership abilities, organizational skills and budget management.
Deep understanding of PHIPA regulations to ensure that Patient Health Information (PHI) confidentiality is always maintained and secured.
Ability to manage multiple projects & priorities
Outstanding communications skills, with an approachable, collaborative communication style
Comfortable collaborating with teams and clients to solve problems.
Ability to be flexible in hours worked including some work after hours and on weekends (for new releases/updates).
