ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Wash Bay Attendant to join our Mobile Maintenance team reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor.
Detour Lake is the largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
The Wash Bay Attendant will be responsible for ensuring proper and safe maintenance protocols are adhered to and practices in washing mining equipment at the Detour Lake Mine.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
- Washing mining equipment and components as required;
- Maintaining the wash bay to promote a safe and efficient work area;
- Performing routine and daily inspections of applicable equipment;
- Completing work orders as assigned and track completion of tasks;
- Assisting in maintenance practices and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate has:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
- Valid Driver’s License;
- Proven commitment to health, safety and the environment;
- Mechanically inclined with the aptitude and willingness to learn;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability to work rotational shift work;
- Physically fit with the ability/capability of lifting 50 pounds;
- Good communication, both verbal and written.
