Ventilation Technician
Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac Des Iles Mine , located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. In operation for 30 years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known ore palladium sources in North America. Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas powered and hybrid vehicles.
The LDI Mine features a unique ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations. The LDI Mine is in Robinson-Superior Treaty territory and the land on which we operate is the traditional territory of the Anisnaabeg and Metis. Job Description:
Responsible to provide quality technical support to the underground in the area of ventilation
Analyze air flows and gas levels to ensure regulatory compliance
Communicate venitlation deficiencies to the appropriate mine personnel
Assist with ventilation planning and design for underground excavations
Care and control ( including purchasing) of venitlation instruments
Order venitlation fans and quipment
Keep up to date inventories
Lead the future automation of fans and gas detectors using PLC's
Maintain fire and escape route plans
Ventilation modeling
Miscellaneous duties reasonable and beneficial as the department requires
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geological or Geotechnical engineering
Proficient with technical computer programs, technical writing, experience in all office based software and a strong ability to conduct datea analysis.
High attention to detal , effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and attentive to time management
