Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, you will be part of the Health and Safety department. As part of the Corporate RMMS Specialists Committee, and working closely with the Corporate Sustainability Systems Manager, you will act as representative of the site for the implementation, operation and optimization of the RMMS and external standards. You will coordinate activities related to the development of the RMMS and will ensure that the elements and processes included in the RMMS are understood, implemented and reviewed by the site management team to ensure local specificities are reflected in the elements. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Coordinate local activities related to the external industry sustainability standards that Agnico Eagle adopts:
- Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM);
- International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC);
- Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMP), program of the World Gold Council;
- Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR);
- And other future standards;
- Coordinate activities related to the implementation and operation of the RMMS;
- Organize workshops and meetings with the local RMMS team to review the implementation and operation status;
- Prepare periodic reports on RMMS activities for the site;
- Participate in the RMMS Specialists Committee meetings and workshops (4x/year);
- Can act as a resource person (superuser) for the use of RMMS support applications (softwares);
- Collaborate with other departments, regulatory authorities and external consultants on files and studies pertaining to regulatory processes;
- Coordinate the on-site audit process required by identified standards;
- Coordinate the risk assessment process;
- Provide coaching or training on the RMMS and other relevant standards.
- Post secondary education with an Occupational Health & Safety or Risk Management certification;
- 3+ years of relevant working experience in mining or similar industries;
- Experience with risk management activities/management systems (ex.: ISO 14001, ICMC, TSM etc.);
- Remote site and mining project experience are considered assets;
- Auditing experience is considered an asset;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint & SharePoint.
Note that the official working language at Detour Lake Mine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
- Final schedule to be determined. 4/3, 8/6 rotation preferred;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights and bus service to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
