We are looking to hire a Refiner to join our Bell Creek Mill in Porcupine, Ontario on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day.


Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.


Job Responsibilities

The role of the Refiner will include a variety of duties in the refinery and the candidate will maintain a high sense of ethics, confidentiality, and compliance with all security measures relating to the refinery area. The Refiner will also provide assistance to mill operations as required, along with any other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Senior Mineral Processing Engineer, the Refiner will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain with high standards, a clean, organized, safe work environment free of hazards.
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the electrowinning cells.
  • Clean gold sludge from the cathodes based on the production schedule.
  • Perform gold pours, which includes mixing reagents and flux for the pour.
  • Perform bullion furnace crucible rebuilds, inspections, and upkeep of the bullion furnace system.
  • Prepare gold for shipment.
  • Complete and submit documentation of lot and pour numbers, refinery reports, and metal weights.
  • Operate the gravity-concentrating table.
  • Perform daily system, equipment, and work area inspections to identify, minimize and correct safety hazards, conduct quality checks, and ensure equipment is maintained properly.
  • Work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to and follow all gold security protocols.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • 5+ years of experience in mill operations
  • Refinery operations experience is considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will have a high safety standard.
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion and confidentiality is essential.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check required.
  • Ability to work overtime/weekends as required during month-end or year-end.
