Our Team

Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey’s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

Department

Our team of experts manage both Capital and Operating Projects with the North Atlantic Operations via Project Services & Shutdown.  

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Projects Control Coordinator to join our Project Services & Shutdown department in Long Harbour, NL. This permanent position will be on a 4x10 schedule and based at the Long Harbour Operations site.

The purpose of this role is to estimate initial baseline performance metrics, report on current state, and estimate future cost & spend position of the project(s), identifying and reporting variances to enable Project Leads to implement mitigating actions through the project lifecycle. In support of effective Project controls and execution, the incumbent will establish and manage the WBS in SAP, linking together scope, schedule and costs associated with the project.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Assist with preparation of Funding Requests and budget allocations.
  • Establish and manage project cost planning based on WBS in SAP for all capital, operating and de-commissioning projects.
  • Review project commitments and costs and ensure proper coding to WBS; tracking expenditures from requisitions, purchase orders, accruals, invoices and payments.
  • Support development of project cost & spend schedules, as well as budgets; with ongoing monitoring and period reporting of variances, assisting in resolving discrepancies with Project Leads and Superintendent.
  • Prepare detailed project cost control reports for each project, provides status updates monthly, and participates in monthly forecast meetings and variances.
  • Enter and track project specific requisitions/releases.
  • Conduct appropriate month end accounting (accruals).
  • Conduct appropriate Project Close out accounting.

About You

Education:

  • Community College Graduate.
    • Administration or Accounting is preferred.
    • PMP Designation is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in project controls or contracts administration is required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Knowledge of cash and cost budgeting.
