YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
 

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will be part of the Process Plant Metallurgical Department. You will perform best practices and comply with procedures that are specific to metallurgy in terms of reporting, testing, sampling on all circuits of the process, and equipment follow up. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Work in a safe and environmentally responsible way;
  • Responsible for performing test work using the metallurgical laboratory for metallurgical and operations testing, applying best metallurgical practices;
  • Provide daily technical support to mill & lab operations and assist operations with implementation of new plan practices;
  • Perform test work needed for Paste Plant Operation and optimization;
  • Monitoring and reporting of refinery operations, electrowinning process, cleaning the electrowinning cells and gold pouring activities;
  • Prepare and develop refinery and metallurgy lab procedures for approval, and apply them in everyday work;
  • Prepare and perform sampling for mid-month and month-end inventory;
  • Inspect and monitor process samplers;
  • Perform surveys on the crushing, grinding, leach, CIP, stripping circuits for KPI validation;
  • Validate the accuracy of equipment measurements, perform simple maintenance on process equipment and fill out work orders accordingly;
  • Work with a continuous improvement mindset always working to safely improve throughput and recovery;
  • Respect the budget and control costs;
  • Ensure an effective transfer of information to the cross-shift;
  • Any other duties required by the Supervisor.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
 
  • Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field equivalent; Chemical or Metallurgical Technologist Diploma, or experience in gold metallurgy;
  • 1-2 years of experience in mining process plant operations;
  • Detailed knowledge of all phases of gold processing including grinding and agitated leaching with cyanide, carbon absorption and regeneration, and refining;
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance to access the refinery;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

 

Your Work Schedule:

  • 7/7 or 4/3 schedule depending on metallurgical department needs, and able to modify schedules to support ongoing test work and projects.
