Mechanical Engineering Co-op Placement - Student -
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team for a 4-month or 8-month work term. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in a dynamic mining environment, allowing the student to apply their academic knowledge to real-world mechanical engineering challenges. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering and maintenance teams to support equipment reliability, process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will be based at our Côté Gold mine site (Gogama, Ontario) on a 14 on, 14 off schedule.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:
- Support maintenance teams in equipment inspections, performance monitoring, and reliability analysis.
- Participate in failure investigations and recommend solutions to improve equipment reliability.
- Assist in developing and implementing maintenance strategies for key mechanical assets.
- Utilize engineering software for analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Conduct research and contribute to projects focused on process optimization and continuous improvement.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation as required.
- Managing projects for modifying equipment, including creating drawings.
- Produce fabrication plans for modifications to improve machine performance.
- Develop quality control documentation and implement procedures for improved maintenance operations.
- Conduct oil sampling review.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, or related post-secondary degree program.
- Must be registered in a recognized co-op or internship program.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

- Good knowledge of mobile and fixed equipment and project management methodologies.

- Strong ability to analyze, identify, and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of Power BI would be an asset.
- Knowledge of CAO software would be considered an asset.
