YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
 

Based in Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Sudbury, and North Bay, ON, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Community and Indigenous Relations Summer Student to join our Community Relations team! You will be reporting to the Senior or Supervisor representative(s) within the Community and Indigenous Relations Department in Ontario Region. You will have an opportunity to be part of an exciting and dynamic team of community engagement practitioners, researchers, and Indigenous Affairs representatives. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. 

  • Assisting with community relations and communications tasks to ensure consistency across   Ontario; 

  • Helping facilitate plans to address community relations needs and risks; 

  • Documenting engagement activities and supporting regulatory processes; 

  • Aiding in fulfilling commitments to Partner Indigenous Nations according to internal guidelines; 

  • Archiving, recording and updating (both digitally and physical copy) consultation records, agreements and memos; 

  • Keeping accurate records of engagement and consultations; 

  • Assisting with the preparation of engagement and consultation summaries; 

  • Supporting the grievance management process and assisting in responding to inquiries promptly; 

  • Participating in and coordinating meetings and events, which may include travel; 

  • Assisting with research and monitoring activities related to community well-being; 

  • Supporting the achievement of regional and corporate objectives; 

  • Providing insights for positive community relations strategies and programs; 

  • Working collaboratively with various internal departments. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
 
  • Pursuing or recently completed a university degree in social sciences, humanities, communications, Indigenous studies, environmental studies, or a related field; 

  • Interested in community relations, corporate social responsibility, and environmental stewardship; 

  • A good communicator with strong writing skills; 

  • Willing to learn and engage with Indigenous cultures and communities; 

  • Able to travel within Ontario; 

  • Strong with interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a diverse team;  

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; 

  • Fluent in English, and knowledge of French, Cree, Algonquin, or Anishinaabe is an asset;  

  • Open to flexible work hours and travel.

Your Work Schedule: 

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at one of our Regional Office locations. Occasional visits to site may also be required. 

Compensation Statement

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.

 Minimum Salary : $20.00CAD   Maximum Salary : $25.00CAD
