We are seeking a motivated Carpenter Apprentice to join our site services team. This role provides hands-on experience in an industrial or mining environment, supporting the construction, repair, and maintenance of wood and other structural components. The apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced carpenters to develop skills in framing, finishing, and installation while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Construction and Installation

  • Assist in building, repairing, and maintaining structures such as offices, accommodations, and site facilities.
  • Support framing, roofing, drywalling, flooring, and finishing work.
  • Learn to measure, cut, and assemble materials such as wood, metal, and composites.
  • Learn to operate saws, drills, and other carpentry tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in the installation of temporary and permanent worksite structures.

Area 2:

 Safety and compliance

  • Help inspect and repair wooden frameworks, doors, windows, and other site infrastructure.
  • Assist in troubleshooting structural issues and recommending repair solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity of buildings and workspaces.
  • Transport and prepare materials, tools, and equipment for job assignments.

Area 3:

Safety and compliance.

  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE use, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and equipment.

Area 4:

Learning and development.

  • Participate in structured on-the-job training and technical coursework required for apprenticeship completion.
  • Actively participate in mentorship and training opportunities provided by senior Carpenters.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and new technologies.

 

Qualifications
 

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, FORMAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS

  • Enrolled in or eligible for a Carpenter Apprenticeship Program. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or college courses in Carpentry are an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE - NATURE & LENGTH

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment (lifting, climbing, working in confined spaces).
  • Basic understanding of carpentry tools and materials.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
