About MiHR
The Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR) is Canada's knowledge centre for mining labour market information. An independent, non-profit organization, MiHR drives collaboration among mining and exploration companies, organized labour, contractors, educational institutions, industry associations and Indigenous groups to identify opportunities and address the human resource and labour market challenges facing the Canadian minerals and metals sector.
One of MiHR's strategic priorities is to increase awareness, interest and positive perceptions of careers in mining. The organization also identifies and addresses skills gaps; delivers essential and work-readiness skills to Indigenous peoples; provides wage subsidies for work-integrated learning opportunities for post-secondary students; provides wage subsidies to help job-ready youth gain relevant and meaningful work experience in mining through paid placements or training opportunities that focus on clean technology and innovation; increases inclusion and diversity; and promotes recognition of skills and training across the sector.
