Canada Summer Jobs Opportunity - 8 Weeks Internship

 

LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders. 

UX Designer is responsible for gathering user research, translating complex business requirements into design, and collaborating closely with programme manager, marketing manager and the development teams to deliver high quality design solutions for LiveLifeLoving, our youth-focused digital platform.
 

About You:

  • Practical experience in Computer Science, HCI, Design    

  • Experience in Graphic Design with emphasis on UX design

  • Some experience in user research and usability testing Interactive prototyping skills

  • Technical writing and communications design

  • Strong abilities in sketching, mocking up, and evaluating interaction design

  • Real passion for user experience

  • Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a joint working environment within your team and beyond

  • Self-starter and able to work independently, and can handle multiple projects under minimal supervision

Responsibilities & Skills:

  • Create prototypes and perform user testing to guide each iteration of the design.

  • Present design concepts and deliverables that meet managers’ requirements.

  • Gathers insights from UX research, usability testing, UI/UX benchmark examples, and applies user-centered design principles to identify design needs.

  • Plans and conducts user interface usability studies and testing as needed to improve UX collaborating with the Programme Manager.

  • Translates complex business requirements to design visual mock-ups and prototypes, collaborating with the development team and programme manager to build the most engaging and intuitive end user experience.

  • Provides support to interaction standards and guidelines for LiveLifeLoving

  • Analyzes user interface problems and requirements and creates on-brand design solutions that meet organization goals.

  • Produces prototypes from sketches, low fidelity wireframes to occasionally high-quality UI/Visual Designs—from concept to execution, including those for desktop, web, and mobile devices at a variety of resolutions (icons, typography, graphics, and marketing materials). Create and iterate on assets that reflect a brand, enforce a language, and inject beauty and life into a product

Dedication: The role will require 8-10 hours per week. The successful candidate may choose to work remotely, however, will be required to attend in person at least 1 day per week at our Downtown Toronto (Adelaide/John) head office. The different tasks involved may sometimes require irregular volunteer hours, particularly in times of need.

Preference will be given to someone with personal experience, relating to HIV.
