Special Olympics Toronto Community Council Member- Scarborough & Etobicoke Locations - Special Olympics Ontario
The Special Olympics Toronto Community Council are looking for dedicated and passionate volunteers to help support individuals with intellectual disabiities through the power of sport! Looking for enthisiastic volunteers to help help provide leadership and guidance in Scarborough and Etobicoke locations specifically.
The Toronto Community Council is a group of volunteers that work behind the scenes to ensure that the athletes and their programs are active and properly supported. Toronto is one of the largest communities within Special Olympics Ontario and requires dedicated volunteers to help oversee the community.Activities that Scarborough and Etobicoke Council engage in include: intake of new athletes and volunteers, creation of new sport programs/partners, fundraising, competition planning, health and wellness initiatives, and much more.
The Council meets once a month - (virtually at this current time) to discuss what is going on in the community and to prepare for any future events or competitions. In-person events include, competitions, fundraisers, sport program visits, etc. Council positions can vary and no experience is required, but is always a plus! Positions include:
- Community Coordiator (Chair)
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Fundraisers
- Sport Technical
- Athlete Coordinator
- Registrar
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Public Relations
All volunteers must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and free online Safe Sport training.
