Job Description
Title: Member, Board of Directors
Organization: Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Centre of BC (Crisis
Centre of BC)
Term: 2 year renewable term (4 consecutive terms maximum), elected at the
Annual General Meeting
Start Date: September 10, 2025

Role Overview
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will provide strategic oversight,
fiduciary accountability, and mission-based ambassadorial leadership to the
Crisis Centre of BC. You will work collaboratively with other Board members,
the Executive Director, and senior leadership to guide the organization in
advancing its vision & mission:

Vision
A world where the human experience of suicide and crisis is met with
compassion, respect, and understanding.

Mission
The Crisis Centre of BC provides opportunities for connection where
people are valued and supported to address crisis and suicide.

Some of the Crisis Centre’s immediate priorities include:
● Real estate strategy for the Centre’s owned property.
● Motivating a full and effective crisis care continuum across BC.
● Increasing philanthropic initiatives at all levels of the Centre.

Core Responsibilities
● Attend onboarding orientation day on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at
the Crisis Centre of BC.
● Attend and participate in bi-monthly Board meetings, including the
Annual General Meeting (every September).
● Serve on at least one committee (Committees TBD).
● Provide strategic input on organizational planning, programs, and
policy.
● Uphold the organization’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and
accessibility.
● Actively participate in Board discussions and decision-making.
● Ensure financial accountability through budget review and audit
processes.
● Contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of new Board members.
Ambassadorship & Support
● Serve as a positive ambassador for the Centre in your networks and
community.
● Make an annual or monthly donation within your means.
● Be open to engaging in donor outreach or event support in
collaboration with staff.

Desired Experience
● Board or governance experience in the nonprofit, health, government,
or social sectors.
● Knowledge or interest in mental health systems, suicide prevention, or
crisis response (personally or professionally) an asset.
● Financial literacy or budgeting (especially for Treasurer succession).
● Experience in advocacy, government relations, communications, or
fundraising.
