GFL Environmental is looking for a Operations Manager to be based out of our Grand Prairie location! Leading a team of supervisors, the Operations Manager will oversee all daily operations for the assigned locations, ensuring all employees conduct their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and professional manner while performing to the company policies and procedures and the appropriate laws that govern them.
In addition to hands-on oversight of the assigned daily operations, he/she will support in the development of new business, maintain our existing business/clients and ensure our brand is well-represented in the communities we work in. Finally, he/she will play an integral part of not only establishing the annual budgets as per company standards but reporting on key monthly metrics and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage and provide leadership for all supervisors and direct reporting employees, overseeing the combined collection activity to ensure high standards of safety, accuracy and profitability.
Model a culture of safety through personal and professional safety leadership, including actively leading and participation in all Health and Safety meetings and investigations.
Ensure, through proper support of the supervisors, that all employees are trained to safely operate their assigned vehicles.
Proactively address and professionally resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Participate in the development of budgets for each fiscal year and further participate in reconciling analyzing monthly/weekly financial and software data.
Collaborate with the Human Resources team to professionally manage all HR items such as but not limited to recruitment, selection, discipline, etc.
Working with the Business Development team, assist in sourcing, developing and delivering tenders to grow the business.
Other duties as directed or required.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to build a safe, healthy culture amongst a diverse set of employees
Demonstrated experience in directly managing staff and front-line workers, indirectly, a driver/laborer employee population in excess of 30.
Strong ability to plan, prioritize and execute a multitude of projects and initiatives, with a proven track record of measurable accomplishments and improvements in previous roles.
Strong knowledge of trucks and equipment and an ability to work collaboratively with our Fleet Management team
Strong computer skills, with an ability to learn and integrate new and emerging programs
Excellent ability to listen, analyze and adapt to change

Requirements
Post secondary education in Business Management or related
Strong leadership skills, with at least 5 years managerial experience in a similar role and industry, with experience managing, directly and indirectly, a staff compliment of more than 75.
Business-focused and relevant post-secondary education a definite asset.
Current First Aid and WHMIS training certification
Experience using MS Word, Excel, and other software programs. Familiarity with Trux considered an asset.
Experience and strong knowledge in operating waste vehicles, including a current Class 3 license
Strong knowledge of applicable legislation including OH&S Act and National Safety Code.
Sales experience and familiarity with other businesses in the area a strong asset
