Canmec is currently seeking candidates to fill a Project Manager position for its hydroelectric operations in Ontario (Lower Notch worksite).
Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Project Manager is responsible for the complete management of construction projects, mainly in the heavy mechanical engineering sector for hydroelectric power plants. As the company's official on-site representative, he is responsible for compliance with the HSE program, comprehensive and detailed planning, site organization, supervision of unionized teams and subcontractors, animation of site meetings and administrative follow-up. In constant communication with the client, he is committed to his satisfaction and respect for deadlines and budgets. He works closely with other departments and subsidiaries of the organization to maximize the profitability of the company. The Project Manager would begin his career on construction sites in Ontario, but may be required to work elsewhere in Canada. In any case, the transportation and the subsidence costs on site are covered by the employer.
This job is highly paid with applicable hourly premium, overtime, paid travel time and related allowances.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in a position with similar functions in construction;
- Technician or Bachelor's degree in engineering or any other combination of training and equivalent experience will be considered;
- Competence in the application of health, safety and environmental standards;
- Experience in managing unionized construction workforce;
- Negotiating, leadership and interpersonal skills;
- Rigor, diligence and ability to work without direct supervision;
- Proficiency in computer tools for project management, such office suit, Microsoft projects;
- Knowledge of heavy mechanics and hydroelectric environment is an asset;
- Open to work outside of the usual place of residence;
- Fluent oral and written communication in English.
