 Position Overview: This position requires 2-3 years of serving and/or bartending experience in a casual fine dining setting. Front desk experience in a hotel environment, management/supervisory experience is an asset, and intermediate to advanced wine knowledge is necessary. The chosen candidate will be expected to serve tables intelligently and intuitively without being invasive. The server will recommend items to provide guests with a unique experience, while maximizing sales simultaneously. The server must adhere to Smart Serve’s specific rules for serving alcohol, thereby regulating the amount of alcohol being served to each guest.

Expectations: The server must always look polished and presentable. The server is expected to be reliable and punctual, being available to work all scheduled shifts. The employee is expected to be knowledgeable about the restaurant/hotel offerings and be able to articulate it in a coherent manner. The employee will actively participate in advancing their knowledge in the restaurant/hospitality industry. The employee will also be expected to learn functions of the front desk to assist when needed.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Opening and/or closing the restaurant following the checklist(s) provided by the manager/supervisor
• Ensuring guests needs are addressed and taken care of
• Ensuring the restaurant is clean and presentable for the public
• Ensuring the service stations are always stocked and tables set according to standards
• Answer any general restaurant inquires, ie where bathrooms are located, hours of operation, waiting areas, Strata Hotel and its affiliates.

• The duties of this job are performed in a fast paced restaurant environment. In addition to high noise level, this position is sometimes exposed to changes in temperatures because of proximity to doors. The server position requires the handling of sharp objects such as knives/peelers etc. The environment can be high-stress at times.
