Position Summary:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor(s), the General Labourer performs a variety of manual or machine-assisted tasks with duties involved in the processing of meat (i.e., turkey) products ready for shipment. The position requires initiative, willingness to learn all processes and to follow strict hygiene and health and safety regulations.
A typical day:
• Cut, skin, trim and prepare various cuts of poultry
• Portion meat to Company specifications to control waste
• Utilize knives for trimming and portioning with ease and control
• Remove organs and other parts from turkey
• Cut turkey into primal cuts for further processing or packaging
• Remove bones from meat
• Other duties as required
Working Environment:
• Perform tasks which are repetitive
• Strong hand/eye coordination
• Ability to lift a min of 30 pounds, and ability to stand for extended hours
• Physically demanding, fast-paced work
• Must be able to work in a cold, damp environment
• Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
• High school education or equivalent
