Process Control Engineer - Thunder Bay Mill Operations

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Thunder Bay Operations team.

Located on the shores of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is a four-season outdoor paradise and is the region’s commercial, administrative, medical and transportation hub, providing the amenities of an urban center while opening the gateway to outdoor adventure in North-western Ontario.

 

Your primary Responsibilities will include the following:

  • You will be part of a team that will strive to optimize performance including chemical recovery, chemical wood pulping and environmental controls.
  • Support multiple departments and process control systems.
  • Support the growth of analytics and data collection and the application of systems to reduce process interventions.
  • Develop process improvements that lead to cost reductions and improved efficiency.

 

Your profile:

  • Engineering degree preferred, coupled with at least 2 years of Kraft Pulping/Machine experience or similar industrial process experience. 
  • The ideal candidate would possess an excellent working knowledge of the kraft pulp making process with superior troubleshooting and leadership abilities.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada at the time of applying for the position.


Your skills and assets:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment
  • Good communication skills with excellent strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods;
  • Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office, Outlook and SAP.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production and cost targets for the department.
