About the Opportunity
Currently, Homes First is looking for a dedicated Life Safety Systems Coordinator to join our team in Toronto, Ontario on a full-time basis.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Completing daily check-ins at properties within our portfolio, supporting technicians who are on-site to service life safety equipment
Ensuring all alarms on doors are in working order, completing work orders as required
Collecting data, monitoring adherence to legislative requirements, and maintaining organizational policies and procedures
Attending and encouraging educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, keeping up-to-date on existing procedures, and ensuring all staff are kept informed of any new procedures and technologies
Conducting regular team meetings, accomplishing and supporting related decisions, orienting new staff, communicating information to other staff members
Ensuring proper processing of work orders related to life safety systems including requests for replenishments of AED pads, safety eye wash solution, replacing safety lighting, etc.
Coordinating distribution and delivery of life safety systems items
Ensuring compliance with Toronto Fire safety
Ensuring that units are in compliance with fire safety prior to the new tenancy
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in Fire Safety/Life Systems Safety, with a college/university certificate or diploma in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire and Emergency Services, Fire and Life Safety, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The following skills and qualifications are essential to this role:
Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and time management skills
Ability to problem solve and propose solutions/alternatives
Ability to handle multiple projects while prioritizing deadlines
Sound judgment and a high degree of professionalism
Knowledge of the homeless population and ability to work with people who have mental health and addiction issues an asset
Please note that this role requires the ability to lift 20 pounds, as well as the ability to provide or conduct a criminal record check.
