The Senior Category Manager will be accountable for the strategy and execution of a broad array of product and category initiatives for The Mobile Shop business at Loblaw. The Mobile Shop has 195+ locations situated conveniently inside Loblaw banner stores, offering Canadians a wide selection of phones and accessories across all major carriers. You will be leading the mobile accessories category as well as our device trade-in and extended warranty programs. You will also provide support on the prepaid telecom category for all carrier brands at The Mobile Shop including our very own house brand, PC mobile. The successful candidate will be providing leadership and support to one Product Manager and will report into the Senior Director of Category Management for the wireless retail business within Loblaw.

What You’ll Do:

Accessories, Device Trade-In and Warranty Program (Device Protection Plan):
Lead the product and sales lifecycle of the accessories portfolio by working closely with accessory vendors to define product assortments based on device roadmaps as well as end of life (EOL) exit strategies
Ensure competitive costing and pricing on all accessories with a dedicated focus on optimizing product assortment in all stores
Work closely and collaboratively with the Inventory team on demand planning and central system ordering, while aligning with vendors to ensure product availability while mitigating out of stock issues that may arise during key selling timeframes
Negotiate vendor-funded accessory promotions & incentives by developing forecasting models to support vendor consensus to drive incremental sales and help product sell through
Create and lead all product listings, costing updates, MSRP or UPC changes
Lead the accessory merchandising program including planograms across multiple store formats, training materials, store communications and photo audit reviews
Collaborate with Inventory, Marketing, Sales Enablement, Digital and IT teams on new product launches and promotions for both in-store and online tactics
Conduct weekly sell-through reporting and perform category analysis
Lead the device trade-in and warranty programs including weekly reporting, service level monitoring, SOP materials, invoicing and all program changes
Lead all aspects of the day-to-day vendor relationships for device trade-in and warranty programs while collaborating with internal and external contacts on training initiatives and new store programs
Main contact for store support tickets submitted via Zendesk
Prepaid Category:
Define and implement handset roadmap and transition plan for all prepaid carriers, with additional focus required on PC mobile SIM cards and open-market devices
Drive forecasting requirements for PC mobile SIM cards, maintain article listings in SAP, and perform item maintenance and system troubleshooting
Conduct weekly reporting on prepaid device and SIM card sales and inventory
Main contact for Loblaw store support for PC mobile SIM card inventory and merchandising issues
What You’ll Need:
5+ years of meaningful work experience in product and/or category management role; telecom experience is an asset
University degree in Business, Commerce or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
Strong level understanding of Microsoft Office suite, particularly of Excel and PowerPoint
Self-starter with proactive work ethic and ability to work cross-functionally
Ability to maximize data and think strategically to positively influence category strategy
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment by taking a proactive and solution-based approach in dealing with uncertainty
Ability to think both strategically at high-level while remaining diligent in all aspects of day-to-day tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Project management experience with ability to prioritize multiple sophisticated projects with opposing timeframes.
Thorough with strong organizational, project and time management skills with ability to adapt to change
General understanding of supply chain and process
SAP experience an asset
Understanding of the wireless and accessories industry, with interest in consumer electronics and products
