President & Chief Executive Officer

Jan 04, 2026
Vancouver, British Columbia

Vancouver Foundation is one of Canada’s largest community foundations, granting hundreds of millions to charities and non-profits across BC every year. We are driven by a vision to create healthy, vibrant, equitable, and inclusive communities, focusing on projects that address the root causes of important issues. We bring together the wisdom and generosity of our community and strategically manage over $1.5 billion in endowment funds to make meaningful and lasting impacts.
The Foundation is seeking a strategic, deeply compassionate, and innovative leader to serve as its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting directly to the Board Chair, the CEO is the chief executive leader responsible for driving the Foundation’s mission through comprehensive oversight of all programs and operations. This pivotal role includes setting and executing the strategy and planning framework, ensuring effective financial management and business operations, and providing inspiring people leadership. The CEO is the Foundation’s chief ambassador, tasked with establishing a strong and visible profile in the community to promote deep understanding of Vancouver Foundation’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic priorities. As the ‘voice’ of the Foundation, the CEO must centre Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) across all work. This leadership is vital to advance key priorities, through both granting and advocacy initiatives, including decolonization, anti-racism, feminism, and equity for equity-seeking communities. The CEO leads critical fundraising and public relations efforts and cultivates a strong working partnership with the Board.
The successful candidate will possess a successful track record in senior leadership, ideally within the not-for-profit sector, with a profound Vancouver alignment to the Foundation’s values. The ideal leader possesses an outstanding reputation for building authentic and trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, major donors, and key partner groups across British Columbia. A critical element is the proven ability to be an exceptional leader of people, capable of rallying internal resources and external allies to achieve aspirational philanthropic goals. All candidates must demonstrate a deep-seated commitment to JEDI, coupled with tangible experience advancing the process of Reconciliation within an organizational context. They must be empathetic and highly relational in their approach yet possess solid business acumen to effectively manage complex operations. The CEO must ultimately be able to formulate, articulate, and translate this holistic vision across the organization and into the community.
The targeted salary range for this position is $320,900 – $360,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
We understand that the ideal candidate is not defined by meeting every single criterion, but by vision, impact, and commitment to our purpose. We are actively working to eliminate systemic barriers in our employment process. If your background demonstrates the strategic capacity and leadership required to drive our mission of reducing inequality, and you are excited by this opportunity, we encourage you to apply and articulate your vision for VF in your cover letter.
