PDAC 2025: The World’s Premier Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention is the leading event for people, companies and organizations connected to mineral exploration. This annual convention is known for attracting 27,000 attendees from 138 countries for its educational programming, networking events, outstanding business opportunities and fun. Since it began in 1932, the PDAC Convention has grown in size, stature and influence. Today, it is the event of choice for the world’s mineral industry hosting more than 1,100 exhibitors. PDAC 2025 will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South & North Buildings.
The Role
Under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator, this position will assist with training and shift management of the Convention Ambassadors (volunteers). Convention Ambassadors greet attendees and assist them in navigating the convention smoothly. Students are given the opportunity to volunteer in exchange for a complimentary registration to the event (among other benefits). The Volunteer Assistant is an important role in the success of the Convention Ambassador Program.

What you will do
- Open the volunteer office and lounge daily and ensure the space is clean and ready for volunteers
- Greet volunteers as they arrive and assist them with sign in procedures, providing the required materials and uniforms
- Set up and tidy the two rooms in between training sessions
- Tidy and close the two rooms daily
- Track volunteer training completion and shift attendance (via Excel spreadsheet)
- Answer volunteer questions
- Assist with other duties as required
- 1-3 years administration or event experience
- Volunteer management experience is a bonus
- Superior administrative and organizational skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and managing spreadsheets
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Ability to learn quickly, focus on the details and follow explicit direction
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player
- Interest in continuing this role in future years of PDAC Convention (2026 and onwards)
