The Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) is a non-profit organization that creates economic opportunities for underserved populations, focusing on newcomers and immigrants. Our micro-lending and financial empowerment programs help individuals overcome barriers and achieve their professional or small business goals. Our Credential Recognition Program (CRP) is delivered in partnership with three settlement agencies, creating a robust support network for newcomers in Ottawa, while our business loan program supports local entrepreneurs in launching and growing their ventures.
The Role
As our Senior Loans Officer & Project Coordinator, you'll coordinate two key lending streams:

Primary focus on the Foreign Credential Recognition Program (FCRP), working with newcomers seeking credential recognition

Oversight of our business micro-loan program, supporting entrepreneurs in their business development
You will oversee our Loan Officer(s) while working collaboratively within our broader CRP team and maintaining strong relationships with our partners, including financial institutions, settlement organizations, and educational institutions across Ottawa.
Key Responsibilities
FCRP Program (Primary Focus)

Oversee and support the work of our Loan Officer(s)

Review and make recommendations related to FCRP loan applications

Deliver engaging financial literacy workshops to CRP clients both virtually and in-person

Maintain strong partnerships with financial institutions, settlement agencies, and educational institutions
Business Lending Program

Guide entrepreneurs through the business planning and loan application processes

Provide feedback and recommendations on business plans and financial projections

Review, assess and make business loan recommendations
-
Monitor loan portfolio performance, including verifying accuracy of information received and liaising with the financial institutions as required.
General Duties

Conduct face-to-face and virtual client meetings in both English and French

Support reporting requirements for funders and stakeholders

Maintain relationships with community partners and financial institutions
Required Qualifications

Proven experience in business lending, loan administration, or related financial services

Fluency in English and French (written and verbal)

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must currently reside in the Ottawa area

Strong understanding of risk and assessment of risk

Experience evaluating business plans and financial projections

Experience in small business coaching or mentoring

Experience delivering workshops in virtual and face-to-face environments

Excellent organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail

Proven ability to work proactively and take initiative

Strong intercultural communication skills and experience working newcomer populations
