Senior Associate, Accounting - Team Rubicon Canada

We are seeking a seeking Senior Associate, Accounting to support our financial operations. You are a meticulous and proactive accounting professional with a passion for mission-driven work, strong experience in accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processing, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both staff and volunteers in dynamic, high-stakes environments. Reporting to the Director, Finance, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission by managing accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and core accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial processing that supports TR Canada’s mission. As the Senior Associate, Accounting, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of TR Canada’s financial transactions and reporting.

Duties:
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of AP/AR transactions, maintaining strong relationships with vendors and addressing any discrepancies promptly.
- Accurately calculate, process, and distribute payroll for all staff, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and preparing related journal entries.
- Regularly reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare monthly AP and AR reports, ensuring financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with cross-functional staff members and volunteer Finance Section Chiefs to provide financial guidance and ensure accurate tracking of financial resources during response activities.
- Support the Director, Finance in organizing financial records, preparing for audits, and ensuring adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
- Use accounting software (specifically Sage Intaact and SAP Concur) to record and manage financial transactions, ensuring familiarity with system functionalities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Background
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Post-graduate education is an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, including payroll and AP/AR functions, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- CA / CGA / CPB designation is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in handling accounts payable, receivable, payroll processing, and performing financial reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
- Precision in managing financial transactions and maintaining organized, error-free records to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
- Skilled in using accounting systems like Sage Intaact and SAP Concur, with the ability to efficiently enter and manage financial data, prepare reports, and troubleshoot basic software issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally across all levels of the organization, including collaborating with volunteers.
- Resourceful and proactive in identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records, ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial data.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with non-traditional hours, especially during disaster response, with a commitment to supporting TR Canada’s mission and values.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proficient with Sage Intaact and SAP Concur.
- Professional experience with Asana Project Management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Type:
- Full-time, salary
- $60,000-$70,000

- Occasional travel, including overnight travel across North America, including deployment to disaster response operations.
- Must be comfortable working in austere conditions when required.
- English fluency is essential. Fluency in both of Canada’s Official Languages is an asset.
