Established in 1968, YES has the experience and expertise to deliver programs and services collaborating with businesses and helping youth find employment. YES works with thousands of employers nationally, with an 85% successful outcome in clients exiting in employment, training, and/or education.
The YES WorkAbility Project (YWA) assists businesses in creating inclusive and accessible workplaces for persons with mental health disabilities. Offering a range of activities, including coaching, training, and human resources support, this project helps build employer awareness, raises the profile of persons with mental health disabilities within employer communities, and promotes the benefits of hiring, retaining, and promoting persons with mental health disabilities.

The Consultant
- An experienced professional with a good knowledge of curriculum development and workshop/training design for workplaces, HR personnel and people leaders
- A strong understanding of workplace policies and procedures, HR and the intersects of mental health in the workplace
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders’- business experts, program staff, committee members, mental health advocates - ability to gather feedback and best practices
- Work with the YWA team to ensure all deliverables are met on time
- Strong research and analysis, writing and communication skills
- Strong understanding of evidence-based curriculum development
- Someone passionate about the importance of mental health supportive workplaces
- Accreditation in Mental Health (ex. RSW, RP), Human Resources (ex. HRPA), Adult Education, or Business Management considered an asset
Overall:
- In collaboration with YWA, this role will build three modules to the current employment toolkit and revamp the existing modules to create a cohesive toolkit.
The existing modules include ‘Mental Health 101 for Workplace Leaders’, ‘Creating Capacity for Mental Health’, ‘Onboarding with Mental Health in Mind’, ‘Transforming Talent Acquisition: Mental Health Informed Best Practices to Enhance Your Recruitment Process’, ‘Introduction to Mental Health Accommodations’, ‘Accommodations: Handling Disclosures and Accommodation “, and ‘Inclusive Work Environments’.
The additional 3 topics will include ‘A Generational Approach to Mental Health in the Workplace’, ‘Addressing Workplace Concerns: Behaviour vs Mental Health Approaches’ and for the third, we will leverage the YWA Advisory Committee to decide on the topic.
- Create 3 new modules (Topics: A Generational Approach to Mental Health in the Workplace, A Generational Approach to Mental Health in the Workplace’, ‘Addressing Workplace Concerns: Behaviour vs Mental Health Approaches, and a third topic to be decided)
- For each, the consultant will create
- A detailed facilitator’s guide
- Slide Deck
- Take away resources/activities
- Ex. Checklists, guides, conversation prompts, resource list, etc.,
- For each, the consultant will create
- Review the existing 7 modules
- For each, the consultant will
- Make changes needed to provide consistency in tone and style
- Create a facilitator’s guide to accompany the existing slide decks
- Add take aware resources/activities to compliment and expand on the materials
- For each, the consultant will
- Work in collaboration with and report to YWA and our Advisory Committe to
- Decide on the remaining curriculum topic
- Create/add videos to new and existing modules as needed
- Leverage committee expertise and storytelling to enhanced content
- Consult external stakeholders, expertise and research as needed to ensure content is evidence based and up to date
- Ensure the information is legislatively compliant for a national education campaign
- Ensure the format geared toward employers/businesses, engaging, easily understood, fun and informative
