Position Overview

On the cusp of a new era in mental health where all Canadians understand the value of social connection, we are looking to bring in a new team member to launch a comprehensive, long-term strategy for engaging and building relationships with current and emerging donors. The successful candidate will cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations. They will passionately communicate the vision of CMHA to inform, engage and inspire donors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build on existing strategies and develop new avenues to diversify CMHA NWV’s revenue streams;
  • Design and implement effective identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans for current and prospective donors at an individual and corporate level;
  • Work in collaboration with ED, Branch and Division partners to actively solicit major gifts;
  • Contributes to a culture of philanthropy to support staff and Board with opportunity spotting and donor cultivation by conducting donor research, creating donor profiles and providing fundraising education;
  • Cultivates relationships and stewards third party event organizers, service clubs & corporations.  
  • Track progress towards clearly defined objectives through meticulous tracking in our CRM;
  • Collaborates with Communications and Executive Director to prepare proposals, reports etc.
  • Adhere to national standards of ethical fundraising, best practices, policies, and related guidelines.
Abilities and Values
  • Value driven professional who is passionate about developing a donor-centric organization;
  • Solid knowledge of mid-level and major gift fundraising, its trends and best practices;
  • Experience in developing budgets, aligning with annual agency budgets;
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial goals and successfully closing major gifts;
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities;
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications skills;
  • Equally capable working well independently and as part of a team;
  • Outgoing, compassionate, and interested in the mental health of all people in the community.
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or other related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of revenue development experience;
  • Experience working with an organization’s senior leadership;
  • Exceptional listener with cross-cultural communication skills
  • Ability to speak Farsi or any other language an asset
  • Skill in designing, writing, and editing promotional materials
A criminal record check for working with vulnerable sectors is required upon hiring.

Hours of Work and Considerations

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours of Work and Special Considerations: 35 hours per week. Flexible hours and a mix of working at home/in the office. Some evening/weekends required.

Salary range:  $95,000 - $105,000

Benefits: 6% vacation. Comprehensive extended health and dental benefits, including Heath Spending Account. RRSP.
