Job Responsibilities:
- Providing home and community goal-based respite supports for children and youth in Brantford, (ages 0 – 18) identified with complex mental health needs, and their families.
- Create and implement Extensive Needs respite groups that run multiple times per year
- To implement individualized goal-focused respite supports in collaboration with Woodview clinician’s and community partners to provide comprehensive support
- Flexible schedule including daytime, evening and weekends based on client need and availability.
- Implement client focused activities, responsive to the needs of clients. May be on an individual basis or within a group setting.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied).
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrate confidence, self-direction and sound judgment in the role.
Qualifications:
- Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Autism Behavioural Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in children’s mental health and working with families
- A demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective with clients and families
- Sound knowledge and/or experience in the mental health field and an ability to manage the emotional and behavioural needs of clients
- Strong ability to communicate concise, accurate information in verbal and written reporting
- Current certification in first aid and CPR
- NVCI and ASIST certification an asset
- Knowledge of DBT, CBT and Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset
- Current police check, including vulnerable screening
- Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Computer skills
- Second language an asset
- Valid driver’s license and daily use of a reliable vehicle with the ability to transport clients
