Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Providing home and community goal-based respite supports for children and youth in Brantford, (ages 0 – 18) identified with complex mental health needs, and their families.

Utilize strategies to prevent challenging behaviours, implement strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviours

Provide opportunities for activities in the home, community and center

To implement individualized goal-focused respite supports in collaboration with Woodview clinician’s and community partners to provide comprehensive support
-
Flexible schedule including daytime (after school) from 3pm-8pm Monday-Friday on an ongoing basis (subject to change based on client’s needs and availability)

Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied).

Able to work independently and with other staff throughout the respite session; as well as collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team.

Demonstrate confidence, self-direction, autonomy, and sound judgment in the role.
Qualifications:
-
Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Autism Behavioral Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience

Minimum 2 year’s experience in children’s mental health (or related field) and working with families

A demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective with clients and families

Sound knowledge and/or experience in the mental health field and an ability to manage the emotional and behavioural needs of clients

Strong ability to communicate concise, accurate information in verbal and written reporting
-
Current certification in first aid and CPR
-
NVCI and ASIST certification an asset
-
Knowledge of DBT, CBT and Applied Behavior Analysis an asset
-
Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (police check) valid within the last 6 months
-
Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
-
Computer skills
-
Second Language is considered an asset

Valid driver’s license and daily use of a reliable vehicle with the ability to transport clients
