Rehabilitation Counsellor - Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe

Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe is a community agency funded by Ontario Health Central Region.  The agency offers a variety of community-based services for adults living with the long-term effects of an acquired brain injury.

Position:       Full-time Rehabilitation Counsellor, Adult Day Programs

Location:      Adult Day Programs operate in Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, and Midland.   This position works 2 days each week in Midland, 1 day each week in Collingwood, and 2 days each week in Barrie.

Hours:           8:30 – 4:30, Monday to Friday

Salary:           $25.50 - $27.00 per hour.  

Duties:

  • Develop, plan, and facilitate Adult Day Programs (Virtual and On-Site)
  • Provide individualized 1-1 services (Virtual and Face-to-Face) to clients in their homes and communities
  • Record and manage client information for the purposes of quality assurance and goal attainment
  • Develop individual service plans that are client centered, goal focused, and outcome oriented
  • Risk management practices (infection control, hygiene, equipment maintenance, dietary restrictions, environmental audit etc.)
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Travel to/from Day Program Sites and individual clients within Simcoe County
Qualifications:
  • A degree or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a community setting
  • Experience working with individuals living with the effects of acquired brain injury
  • Demonstrated knowledge of life skills and community reintegration principles
  • Strong interpersonal, team, and documentation skills
  • Current CPR, CPI, First Aid certification (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Criminal Reference Check
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Demonstrated experience using computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, virtual platforms
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
COVID-19 considerations:

BIS has robust Infection Prevention and Control practices in place. All staff are provided with, and trained in the use of, personal protective equipment. All new staff hired are required to provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (two doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine).
