Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)– OAP Entry to School Program - Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK)

Reporting to Clinical Supervisor and/or Manager of Autism and Behavioural Services, the Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) will work as part of a multidisciplinary team for the Entry to School Program. The RECE supports a group-based program for children, up to 5 years of age, who are entering school for the first time and will be focused on preparing them to enter school. The RECE will facilitate children's skill development in school readiness across six key domains (i.e., communication, play, social interactions, functional routines, behavioral self-management, and pre-academics, learning and attention) to support their transition to kindergarten. 

Please note that this is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours weekly. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and maintain a healthy and safe learning environment.
  • Model positive child guidance strategies.
  • Provide inclusive learning opportunities.
  • Represent and document children’s learning using a variety of methods and communicate them to children, parent/caregivers, and team members, as required.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Attend team, interdisciplinary and community meetings, as required.
  • Support families by providing orientation to the program.
  • Deliver the group-based skill-building program with other clinicians working with the child.
  • Provide assistance to the multidisciplinary team and other professionals working with children transitioning to school as required.
  • Adapt programming in alignment with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health operational guidelines and requirements for pandemic procedures by Regions/Zones, as required.
  • Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care, by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents
  • Abide by the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as any further health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the agency policy and procedure documents.
  • Other duties as may be reasonably assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with children 0-6 years.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Emergent Curriculum.
  • Experience supporting children in a group setting.
  • Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum is preferred.
  • Experience working in collaboration with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and/or other multidisciplinary teams is preferred.
  • Understanding of the Halton Region community and community resources.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset for this position.
  • Previous training or experience with the Early Start Denver Model is an asset.

Requirements:

  • Respect for individual and cultural differences.
  • Current CPR-C and First Aid certification.
  • A current (within three months) criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and locations as required.
  • Access to reliable transportation in alignment with program needs.
  • Proficient in the use of technology as required of the position, including working in a virtual environment with MAC OS operating systems experience preferred
