CRIAW-ICREF is a national not-for-profit feminist organization focused on researching and documenting women’s social and economic position in Canada using an intersectional feminist lens. Position summary

As our full-time Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects stay on track and produce useful and impactful tools and information. Your main responsibilities will include overseeing the progress and financial management of research projects, as well as contributing to and implementing project activities. The position also involves ensuring that projects are in line with CRIAW-ICREF and funder objectives, under the direction of the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

General Project Monitoring

  • Monitors project activity progress on assigned projects and ensures that activities are completed according to schedule. Takes action to resolve problems and address delays when they occur.
  • Implements project activities as required to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
  • Monitors the budget on assigned projects, reconciling monthly project expenditures with annual budgets, ensuring budget reports are provided to the Executive Director in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that project activities and spending comply with funder regulations and CRIAW-ICREF administrative procedures.
  • Works with the Executive Director and Manager to supervise staff working on project activities and implement projects.
  • Liaises to ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Works effectively as part of the Project Management team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Communications and Outreach
  • Drafts correspondence, answers inquiries, and sends updates to project working groups.
  • Coordinates meetings and ensures notes are taken.
  • Coordinates development of communications and outreach for assigned projects, including traditional media, website, social media, etc.
  • Develops a common style and branding for project materials, in consultation with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinates and supports the development and production of non-academic and plain language materials related to assigned projects under the direction of the Executive Director.
Project Reporting
  • Develops indicators and tools to ensure accurate reporting for the mid-term and final reports to funders, as needed. Liaises with staff to advise them of existing indicators and gather the needed information.
  • Co-ordinates and contributes to project progress reports, such as the mid-term and final reports.
  • Assists in the development of an ethics proposal and tracks the requirements for ethics approvals and renewals.
  • Develops a system to co-ordinate and track knowledge mobilization initiatives, ensuring appropriate credit is given to authors and contributors.
Qualifications and skills
  • 3-5 years project management experience, preferably in a not-for-profit.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining financial records and budgets.
  • Experience using the following software: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree or college diploma in relevant field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must be fluent in English or French. Verbal and written communication in a second official language (French or English) will be an asset. 
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and provide leadership.
  • Well-organized and resourceful.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and ability to be self-motivated and work independently when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of feminist analysis and methodologies.
Position Overview

This is a full-time term position for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension.

Salary: $70,000-$75,000

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Ottawa (hybrid)
