Salary: $74,352 per annum with annual increases as per our collective bargaining agreement

THE OPPORTUNITY: PROGRAM OFFICER, CLIMATE ENGAGEMENT CANADA (CEC)
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Advocacy, Climate and working collaboratively across programs, the Program Officer, Climate Engagement Canada (CEC) supports the coordination and communication of collaborative investor engagement efforts focused on climate action. It involves organizing educational sessions, preparing actionable materials, and facilitating dialogue between investors, companies, and partner organizations. The position also includes administrative support, research and relationship management to help drive effective climate-related investor strategies. The Program Officer will support the CEC participants’ efforts to advance a collaborative engagement agenda to accelerate Canada’s net zero transition.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be a pivotal contributor to SHARE’s industry-leading climate engagement program. Some of your primary responsibilities will include:
- Provide administrative support relating to the coordination of collaborative investor activity, and assisting with communications amongst SHARE’s partner organizations;
- Plan and support facilitation of regular meetings of CEC participants to discuss actions and educate participants;
- Plan and support facilitation of in-person and online educational opportunities for CEC participants with relevant issue experts;
- Draft and develop issue sheets, tip-sheets, and briefing notes that help investors understand opportunities and take action on climate change;
- Draft regular network-specific e-newsletters and other communications that engage and involve network participants;
- Monitor and research publicly-traded companies and analyze key disclosures including regulatory filings, sustainability reports, websites and other information;
- Prepare decision-useful briefs and recommendations for action to assist in preparation and execution of engagement with companies;
- Where appropriate, maintain relationships with and monitor developments from relevant stakeholder groups, and experts in relevant fields;
- Monitor and analyze responsible investment trends and issues for future action;
- Keep up to date on current issues and critical developments in subjects central to CEC’s engagement plans and relevant ESG issues;
- Draft and maintain correspondence with participants, companies including data collection and scheduling of meetings;
- Support collaborative work with allied investors, including developing common agendas and shared priorities to help facilitate constructive engagement dialogues;
- Support investor engagement teams in reporting on their activity, and assisting in preparing regular reports to Climate Engagement Canada governing bodies and program participants;
- Maintain electronic records and files using established processes, or help create processes for new activities;
- Work collaboratively with SHARE’s research team to support new and emerging engagement education and coordination objectives;
- Represent the CEC Secretariat in front of internal and external audiences, including webinars and conferences;
- Contribute to development of shared knowledge across the SHARE team;
- Other duties as assigned.

- Proficient with cloud-based collaboration tools, monday.com, Box, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and relevant database and data analysis tools;
- Ability to conduct research on topics related to the social, environmental and governance policies and practices of publicly traded corporations, including extensive use of online resources;
- Have a flexible, positive and responsive attitude, and a team-oriented approach to change-making;
- Working knowledge related to key environmental, social and governance issues is required, including familiarity with common reporting frameworks & standards used in responsible investment analysis.
AT A MINIMUM, YOU HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum three years’ related relevant experience;
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience related to climate change, law, human rights, or corporate social responsibility;
- Strong, demonstrated experience working on action-oriented research and corporate engagement in support of impactful, issues campaigns;
- Knowledge of business, investment, and/or financial markets in Canada and internationally;
- Understanding of proper thematic priorities, including internationally recognized standards related to climate change and at least one of: decent work, human rights due diligence; equity and inclusion; Indigenous rights & reconciliation in the Canadian context; corporate governance;
- Fluency in written and verbal English is required. Fluency in French is a strong asset.
