The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities, and a background in coaching various sports activities. This role involves facilitating sports programs tailored to meet the diverse needs and abilities of our members.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities, and a background in coaching various sports activities. This role involves facilitating sports programs tailored to meet the diverse needs and abilities of our members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement inclusive sports programs for individuals with Down syndrome ages 4-22, focusing on skill development, physical fitness, and social interaction.
- Develop, plan, and execute structured coaching sessions across a range of sports, ensuring activities are engaging and accessible to participants of varying abilities.
- Adapt coaching techniques and strategies to accommodate different learning styles and physical abilities.
- Managing equipment including transporting it to and from the program.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where participants feel safe, valued, and empowered.
- Collaborate with other team members and volunteers to facilitate sessions
- Provide individualized support and encouragement to participants to promote skill improvement and personal growth.
- Monitor and assess participant progress, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and protocols during all activities.
- Experience in coaching and/or instructing sports, preferably with experience in adaptive or inclusive sports settings.
- Knowledge of a variety of sports and recreational activities suitable for individuals with disabilities.
- Understanding of the physical, cognitive, and social challenges faced by individuals with Down syndrome.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with participants, families, and volunteers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate activities efficiently.
- Passion for promoting inclusion and advocating for individuals with disabilities.
- Additional training will be provided prior to program
- Must pass Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
- This position is part-time, 6 hours per week from September-May and 4 hours per week from June-August.
- The program is held in the East York area from September-May and downtown area from June-August. The classes run on Sundays.
- The successful candidate will report to the Program Coordinator and work closely with other members of the DSAT team.
