A reputable, non-profit housing provider is seeking a Mobile Field Technician to join our hard working Field team. Our portfolio includes approx. 1000 residential units. Primary duties for this position include: ensure general upkeep of assigned portfolio of properties by completing minor repairs and reporting larger maintenance issues and inspecting the properties once a week. Our Mobile Field Technician will also be required to interact with our resident community throughout the course of duties.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Good handyman skills with basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Must be bondable and physically fit to lift/carry and climb multiple flights of stairs, if/when needed
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English – verbally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, tolerance, diplomacy and exercise tact and good judgement when dealing with a variety of clients of diverse cultural, educational and socio-economic backgrounds and behavioral issues
  • Ability to preserve and respect resident confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to use various functions on a smart phone or tablet (calling, texting, emailing, taking/sending photos, and use of various apps)

*Important: A criminal record check for working with vulnerable children and adults is required for this position.

HOURS OF WORK

The Field team’s typical hours of work will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:00 am to 2:30 pm on Fridays, with a 30-minute daily lunch break. The Field team may be required, on occasion, to work outside the typical hours of work. Overtime must be authorized in writing, in advance, and signed off by their Manager within 24 hours unless associated with being “on-call”. The members of the Field team are expected to participate as part of the “on-call” rotation one weekend per month. A monthly on-call allowance is provided to each Field team member, in addition to overtime pay.

COMPENSATION

Our organization is proud to be a certified Living Wage employer. Expected salary range for this position: $53,000- $59,000/year (to commensurate with experience), plus overtime. An employer matching RRSP program is offered after three (3) months of successful employment.
