About Us

Since 1986, Neighbour to Neighbour (N2N) Centre has been working to lead our community to an improved quality of life. What started as a small food bank has evolved into an indispensable part of Hamilton’s social fabric. N2N gets to the very root of our community’s needs, offering access to healthy food, skill building programs, tutoring for children, utility support programs, counselling and a host of other interventions.

About the Role

The Marketing & Events Specialist will have an important role in the success of the marketing and development department.  The ideal candidate is passionate about generating strong philanthropic support through relationship building and believes dignified access to food/services/prevention of poverty is a human right.  They will possess strong skills around community building, social media management, and special events management. They are highly organized, possess keen attention to detail and provide exceptional customer service. They will be responsible for managing a team of 72 to 76 committee and event volunteers. 

Key Role Responsibilities  

  • Building N2N’s Marketing & Communications internal and external brand identity, and generating organization’s marketing materials for print and website and other platforms 

  • Marketing all departments and services by creating and coordinating social media strategies to represent all programs across N2N and build N2N’s community. 

  • Personally, managing a portfolio of current and prospective event sponsors and participants by building and maintaining relationships to support the work of N2N 

  • Managing N2N annual events, which includes working with established committees, coordinating event logistics, managing event volunteers, collaborating with other community groups, and other duties that drive the success of each event 

  • Build community partnerships and engagement by leading N2N’s third-party fundraising events.  

  • Create strategies and marketing tactics that drive fundraising success 

Other 

  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Development, establishing appropriate annual goals and metrics to ensure that all efforts are effective, efficient, and successful 

  • Monitor trends in giving and expand, shift strategies as needed 

  • Complete other duties as required  

Participate as a Department/team member 

  • Role model professional behaviour and positive communication with participants, volunteers and partners 

  • Provide feedback and mentorship for interns/volunteers who you manage 

  • Promote culture of equity, diversity & inclusion, health & safety, and wellness practice in our organization 

  • Represent Neighbour to Neighbour Centre values in our community 

Qualifications, Education (minimum required/desired) and Experience  

  • Post secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required 

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design 

  • Experience with website editing using Wordpress  

  • 3+ years of fundraising experience in special events 

  • Experience managing multiple professional social media accounts 

  • Experience using a CRM database, preferably Raiser’s Edge, an asset 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people and build strong relationships 

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities 

  • Familiarity with the issues surrounding food insecurity and poverty an asset 

  • Capacity for travel with own vehicle 

Physical Demands of the Role 

  • Loading/unloading of vehicles, prolonged sitting (lack of flexibility to move around), overtime sometimes required. 

Potential Exposure to Hazards  

  • Driving, extreme weather.
