What we’re looking for…

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Advisor supports and coordinates the enhancement and successful execution of marketing, communications, events and public relations activities. Areas of focus include increasing overall awareness of Vineland, including leveraging data tools, techniques and strategies. The Advisor will support the development and promotion of the Vineland brand while also ensuring it aligns with Vineland’s Corporate and Innovation strategies. 

What you’ll do…

  • Act as a communications liaison to support internal communication needs including writing, proofing and editing of web and social media content, PowerPoint presentations, display materials, articles for publishing in newsletters and other media.

  • Work with the Director, Marketing and Communications and the Director, Business and Client Development to:

    • Support the development and implementation of communications and marketing plans to increase Vineland’s visibility, and drive traffic to Vinelands’ research services and commercialization ventures.

    • Produce promotional and outreach materials to support corporate communications and business development activities. This will include collaborating with internal stakeholders to translate project outcomes into publicly available resources such as success stories.

  • Support the creation and content management of Vineland’s annual Innovation Report, quarterly newsletter, press releases, news articles, social media and other content as deemed necessary. 

  • Coordinate online marketing content and managing social media accounts.

What we need from you…

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in event planning, communications, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a communications and/or marketing role.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license.

  • Bilingual is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of the horticulture and Canadian innovation system is an asset

  • Ability to effectively communicate Vineland’s science/engineering and business activities.

  • Advanced understanding of social media and web communications.

  • Advanced web content management skills.

  • Intermediate level of experience with online tools including, but not limited to Wordpress, MailChimp, Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Excellent proofreading and communications skills – written and oral.
