For 35 years, a team of passionate staff and volunteers at Neighbour-to-Neighbour Centre have been collaborating to improve the Hamilton community and meet the issues of food insecurity and poverty head-on. What started as a small food bank has evolved into an indispensable part of the community’s social fabric.

Neighbour to Neighbour works to improve the quality of life in the Hamilton community by offering access to tutoring programs for children, community kitchen programs, utility subsidy programs, family counselling, emergency food access and a host of other interventions. Position Summary 

The Manager of Emergency Food and Home Delivery provides strategic and operational leadership for the Food Bank, Warehouse, and Home Delivery programs. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Operations, this role is responsible for program development, staff supervision, volunteer management, funding support, community engagement, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety and food handling regulations. This individual supports the coordinator and other team members to ensure smooth and effective service delivery to the community. 
 
Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Provide overall leadership and vision for the Emergency Food Services department, including the Food Bank, Warehouse, and Home Delivery programs.
  • Set departmental goals, develop annual plans, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission.
  • Monitor program performance and client outcomes; lead service evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead planning, development, and performance of food access programs.
Program & Service Delivery
  • Oversee warehouse operations, food inventory, and delivery logistics.
  • Manage inventory and storage across both sites in collaboration with the Director and Drivers.
  • Support service delivery design and coordination of food box preparation.
  •  Support the L2F (Links to Feed) initiative in partnership with the Family Services Manager.
  • Coordinate unloading and loading of food donations with support from volunteers.
  • Manage daily restocking, donation handling, and volunteer engagement.
  • Develop and maintain driver schedules and oversee food pickup and delivery logistics.
  • Monitor food purchasing processes and contribute to cost-effective procurement strategies.
Community Partnerships & Engagement
  • Lead food solicitation efforts, including food drives, stewardship of existing donors, and cultivation of new food donors.
  • Contribute to food procurement, donor stewardship, and food drives.
  • Cultivate community partnerships and represent the organization publicly.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Social Services, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in food security or community-based programs.
  • Proven skills in staff/volunteer management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of food distribution models and client databases.
  • Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Vulnerable sector police check required.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment on occasion. 
  • Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.), occasional driving, and evening/weekend flexibility.
