The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and strategic fundraising professional to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the multi-year growth strategy for our valued mid-leveldonors. Reporting to the Lead, Donor Experience & Mid-Level you will be instrumental in maximizing donor retention, strategically growing donor value, and cultivating outstanding donor satisfaction that fosters deep and lasting relationships.

As the Manager, you’ll collaborate extensively across internal teams and with key partners to design and implement best-in-class fundraising campaigns, enhanced onboarding and annual engagement journeys, targeted product and audience segmentation strategies, and compelling personalized impact reporting. You will be a champion for operational excellence, ensuring the seamless execution of all mid-level initiatives. This role also involves the direct management and mentorship of the Specialist, Mid-Level.

What does success look like?
  • Contribute to the development and support the implementation of the portfolio’s annual integrated communications strategy, with a focus on driving retention, sustainable donor value growth, and overall donor satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with campaign leads across the organization to ensure the seamless end-to-end integration (planning, execution, and reporting) of the mid-level audience within signature campaigns, including Gifts of Hope, Telemarketing upgrades & cross-sell, Impact reporting, and year-round email communications.
  • Support the annual content strategy, delivering highly personalized and relevant communications based on donor interests and preferences.
  • Lead the development and execution of a 3-year segmentation strategy encompassing product and giving levels, including monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), rigorous monitoring, and insightful reporting.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations for strategies and investments aimed at supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of our mid-level program.
  • Act as key liaison between the Mid-level program and Mass Giving, Major Gifts, and Legacy Giving teams to facilitate effective donor migration and cross-portfolio strategies.
  • Lead related data projects, ensuring data hygiene, remediation, refreshes, extracts, and the implementation of automations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a lead ambassador and advocate for the mid-level portfolio within the organization, sharing audience insights, key messages, addressing questions, and disseminating best practices that can be applied across teams.
  • Directly manage the Specialist, Mid-Level overseeing their strategic contributions and the execution of campaigns, while actively supporting their professional growth.
  • Support other Enterprise Donor Experience & Growth strategy working groups as required, contributing your expertise to broader organizational initiatives.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
  • A proactive and results-oriented approach, with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities. You are curious, highly motivated, and possess a growth mindset with a willingness to experiment and iterate.
  • Experience working in a complex environment with a large number of stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Excellent project management discipline and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and build strong working relationships.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in donor marketing or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns (direct mail, email, telemarketing, online giving, SMS, etc.) and understanding how these channels integrate to optimize donor engagement and drive results.
  • A strong understanding of donor segmentation principles and experience in developing and executing targeted strategies to enhance engagement and giving at various levels.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, interpret performance metrics, and translate insights into actionable strategies to improve donor retention, value, and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting strategic recommendations to leadership, supported by data and a clear understanding of program growth drivers, while managing risk thresholds.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, with a demonstrated ability to effectively coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically utilize CRM systems to enhance donor relationships and drive program success. Proficiency in Salesforce is highly valuable.

Plan International Canada is a hybrid workplace. You will work from the office and from home.

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $56,000 and $71,000. We comprehensively evaluate a variety of factors to determine fair compensation, including experience, specific job-related skills, and relevant educational or professional training. Additionally, we ensure that compensation is equitable across our team and aligns with current market trends. This role also qualifies for an extensive benefits package and generous paid time off.
