Manager, Gutsy Walk - Crohn's and Colitis Canada

ROLE IMPACT

This is a meaningful role where you can make a difference every day for people living with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Our ideal candidate is a strong project manager with excellent fundraising knowledge to lead Crohn’s and Colitis Canada's signature fundraising event, Gutsy Walk. The individual should have experience leading nationwide events of similar size and be comfortable building strategic plans and leading the execution of strategies. The candidate will have the ability to work cross-functionally to track and deliver all aspects of the event. Moreover, the ideal candidate should possess a can-do attitude and be passionate about improving the lives of those affected by IBD.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience planning and managing complex, high profile nationwide events;
  • 3+ years of related leadership and staff management experience, in a non-profit or charitable environment, community agency and/or health related discipline;
  • Strong strategic business acumen and project management skills; ability to operationalize the organization's vision and strategic plan and deliver successfully on outcomes;
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising event planning and execution;
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of fundraising specifically in peer-to-peer fundraising;
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial planning for events with experience tracking and reporting fundraising performance;
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and stakeholders;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Strong analytical skills, and strategic thinking ability, with creative problem solving;
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent and diverse tasks;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and prioritize in a fast-paced, evolving environment; and
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work cross-functionally to establish annual Gutsy Walk targets and project plan, including milestones, timelines and owners;
  • Recommend and develop opportunities for improvement with input from internal teams and stakeholders, managing action plans and results;
  • Track and monitor progress of key activities and adapt project plan to ensure success accordingly;
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team in the development and implementation of the Gutsy Walk marketing and communication plan to increase event awareness, participation and retention;
  • Support the cultivation and retention of sponsors and ensure all sponsorship requirements are executed;
  • Manage the development and distribution of resource materials and guidelines to provide general fundraising support to event participants, volunteers and donors;
  • Source, select and manage smooth implementation of external suppliers; ensure contracted service levels of event suppliers are met to ensure proper execution of logistics and deliverables (materials, incentives, funds processing);
  • Manage concerns from information seekers through various channels (websites, phone) and aim for streamlined solutions;
  • Liaise with internal staff as needed to ensure local relationships are optimized;
  • Work with Volunteer Engagement team in the delivery of key fundraising resources and event program training with an emphasis to maintain or improve participant and volunteer experience;
  • Support the development and achievement of event standards across the country;
  • Recruit, develop and provide regular coaching and performance management to Gutsy Walk team members;
  • Review monthly financial statements against budget for accuracy, prepare forecasts and analyse results to stay within budget;
  • Implement appropriate actions to ensure strong fundraising results and/or reduction in expenditures as needed, and report event costs to ensure a balanced program budget;
