COMPENSATION: $17.85/hour
SHIFTS: Monday &Tuesday: 4pm -12am/Thursday: 9am-12pm /Saturday & Sunday:8am-12pm (subjected to change)

To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a Maintenance Worker.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker is responsible to maintain a clean, safe environment within St. Anne's Place through performing general maintenance and regularly scheduled cleaning. This is a unionized, full time permanent position. In addition, the Maintenance Worker will assist and support the Personal Support Staff with any emergencies arising related to clients. 

What You Will Do
  • Maintain the common areas of St. Anne's Place in a clean, tidy, safe, and hygienic condition as outlined in the weekly work schedule.
  • Complete thorough cleaning of all identified areas.
  • Complete basic plumbing/electrical repairs as outlined by the Property Management Coordinator.
  • Provide general repairs (within reason and ability) to tenant requests.
  • Respond and provide assistance and support to the personal support workers in cases of emergencies involving clients.
  • Ensure the effective operation of the fire equipment and all security systems within the building.
  • Removal of garbage on a daily basis from the common areas.
  • Keep front vestibule clean and tidy.
  • Respond, in a timely fashion to emergency cleaning requirements.
  • Ensure the removal of all snow and ice from the walkways in the winter months.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the outside gardens in the summer months.
  • ­­Report any hazards and/or safety concerns or need for repairs to the Manager of Operations and/or Program Director.
  • Ensure general security of the building during all times while on shift.
  • Follow all fire regulations and play the lead role in responding to the fire alarm as outlined in the master fire plan for St. Anne's Place.
  • Attend supervisory, staff and in-service training meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties, from time to time, as delegated by the Manager of Operations and/or Program Director
What You Bring
Must Haves
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in general maintenance/cleaning in a large residential setting
  • Familiar with all aspects of Health and Safety, including WHMIS
  • Excellent cleaning skills, knowledge of and ability to complete basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Physically fit in order to meet the requirements of the job
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Ability to interact with elderly clients in a positive manner
  • Flexible and able to adjust to change
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner
  • Ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends.
